Brightburn is a superhero horror thriller with a 1 hour 31 minutes run time. It was released in Nigeria on the 24 May 2019 and I went to see it at Filmhouse Cinema on Friday. I had no idea it was something of a horror movie. I am a superhero movie fan and I had heard that it was a superhero thriller. Oh boy! It was frigging scary. I tried to sit it out and watch the movie to the end but i didn't make it halfway before I ran out of the movie theater. Did I hear someone say chicken??? Lol...you got that right though. I enjoy almost every movie genre except horror and gore. This one had both.
Brightburn is about a baby who falls out of the sky in a spaceship and into the backyard of a childless couple, Tori and Kyle Breyer (Elizabeth Banks and David Denman). They decide to adopt him and all is well until he becomes 12 years old. The 12 year old is played by American child actor, Jackson A. Dunn. He discovers his incredible superpowers and switches from their sweet little boy to a terror who kills people mercilessly. A nasty twist, if you ask me.
Fred Flarsky is a gifted and free-spirited journalist who has a knack for getting into trouble. Charlotte Field is one of the most influential women in the world -- a smart, sophisticated and accomplished politician. When Fred unexpectedly runs into Charlotte, he soon realizes that she was his former baby sitter and childhood crush. When Charlotte decides to make a run for the presidency, she impulsively hires Fred as her speechwriter -- much to the dismay of her trusted advisers.
