The sight of the Taj Mahal through one of the windows in the Red Fort is truly something special, isn’t it?
This view offers a unique insight, as if you are privy to some kind of an intimate conversation between India’s two architectural masterpieces. But in order to witness this magical sight, I had to exercise a lot of patience! At popular sites, such as the one seen in this photo, everybody wants to get to the front row in order to capture that special selfie with the Taj Mahal behind them. I can understand this desire, but I think that often it overshadows more important things, like finding a spot that offers a view of the kind that makes you fall in love with the place even more than before.
When it came to photographing this place, I had to use my 3-exposure trickery once again in order to manage the vast differences in contrast. When you shoot a frame that has both the detailed inner structure of the fortress and the distant Taj Mahal, you have to spend some time on choosing the right exposure settings, as only with the help of an HDR blend you’ll be able to capture all the intricate details of the stone-carved window and the magnificent spectacle beyond it. The long and tedious procedure that follows is well worth it when you see the final result, because seeing the stone details in the window and the equally amazing Taj Mahal at the same time, without having to squint your eyes, is a truly breathtaking experience.
And here is the final result - an HDR composite of the fort and the Taj Mahal!
