I just deleted my Snapchat account. Many people have been doing that lately because of the new update. There are lots of reasons to hate on the app now, and sadly I became one of its haters as well. I was one of the people who were happy that Snap Inc didn't sell the app to Facebook. I kept supporting Snapchat until the result of the new update, and not only the update itself.
Lets list off the reasons of why the app now sucks:
Stories are hard and annoying to watch. When I want to waste a couple of seconds to watch what my friends did in their day, I want the accessibility to be less time consuming than story itself. Back before the update, if I wanted to watch the story of someone I would swipe and tap on their icon. Now you have to swipe, then search for the user, then tap on the profile, then tap on their icon.
The right side is now dedicated to utter nonsense. There always used to be a specific tab for clickbait titles, but it used to be 2 swipes to the left. Now it replaced the friends tab, which is one swipe to the left and it has become literally 50% of the application.
Its slow, laggy, and crashes. Snapchat always drained battery, and was big on the cache but now it has become buggy and slow. I hate when an app I use daily becomes a hassle to use.
Now the reason why I'm really hating on Snap Inc right now is because of their responses. Users have been nagging and demanding for Snap Inc to return the old Snapchat but all they did was make a video about how to use to new update as if the user base is an uncivilized specie and they're teaching us how to open a door. The dumb part is, they know their app is now complicated, because IF YOU NEED TO MAKE A VIDEO ON HOW TO USE YOUR APP, THEN THE APP IS COMPLICATED! Snapchat became successful because of its simplicity not because we like Buzzfeed. If I loved to see what Kardasians were doing I would've followed their account on Snapchat, Twitter, and Instagram. Also if I was so in love with clickbait articles I would've downloaded the Buzzfeed app. I would've been okay if the users of Snapchat liked the update and I didn't, but now one liked it. The user base dropped faster than Felix.
Here's a message to Snap Inc if they somehow get this. You thought you were strong enough to fight Facebook and I admire that. Actually I would've stood by you all the way, but now Instagram has more than double the amount of stories that you guys have. The funny thing is, you made them go to Instagram.
Facebook did not kill you, you did.
