the Final Fantasy games haven't interested me much

I think this fits under the UK's latest Hate Speech and anti-blasphemy laws, I'd be careful if I were you.

I must say, regardless of how much you like or dislike the first instalment, the second is just... a whole nother level. The first one is extremely linear, forcing you down a specific path from start to finish. The second game is a vast open world, significantly larger and gorgeous with thousands of completely new game mechanics.

It's like they were dipping their toes in with the first one, and when they saw the success they just went all in.

I enjoyed the first one a lot, but in hindsight after playing the second, it feels sucky by comparison.
