Last poll made in UK shows, that more than 50% of citizens are afraid of migrants. Mostly, because they think that some of then can be terrorist. Can we blame them for this vague thinking? Eventually, we shouldn't judge a book by it cover. But...
EU definitely didn't make things easier. After Angela, broke the rules, and without asking other countries for permission, opened borders for millions of migrants from Middle East, society suffer the most.
First of all, if you made a decision, take the consequences. Don't try to hide before your people, that your guests don't behave as you expect.
Second, why putting them into a camp? Even worse, try to send them to other countries and than put them into the camp. I mean, I understand that taking over 1 milion people isn't easy. But we can see that this kind of camps just transfers into ghettos. No one wins. Shouldn't be think more about how to assimilate this people?
Third, why EU keep telling other countries, that refugees is added value to their economies? So we helping them, cause they are war victims, or to make money? And what kind of value will they add, by sitting in camp, and take money from government?
Summarizing, I think EU try to convince their citizens, that migrants from Middle East are same kind of people as Western Europeans are. Which is very not true. They've got different culture, which is based on different religion. They've got different rules, behaviors and believes. It doesn't mean they worse than we are. We should remember about it.
From history lessons, I remember that last time when governments were trying to afraid us of people from Middle East, was just before WW2 starts. We're in the middle of building negative narration about Muslims. We're already can see, that right wing politics rise in power in Europe (Austria, France, Poland, Hungary). Question is, what's elites plan to do, to put even more stress to society and why?
So I don't think we afraid of strangers. We afraid of what we're being told to... :/
