hmmm... DEFI economy is not that high on hive, its a social media platform for me, although I am aware that some DEFI is there for Hive users to get further yields and that has potential.
But HBD, is not going to take off just yet as fear of terraUST still lingers, and there has to be more education to others about HBD, that it is capped to a certain market cap of Hive, so no more HBD would be produced after reaching that market cap, death spiral protection is there, although I forgot the details, but it's there.
This mechanism is complicated for users to understaand, so educational posts and videos on it would help.
Until then HBD is unlikely would be seen as safe stable coin and 20% would add suspicition on to it, because yeah in stable coins like terraUST it was unsustainable.
But I see lot of value of main currency Hive, and as part of it being Hive debt HBD will have value, it depends on weather users will get confidence on HBD, its got to be built slowly.
Ofcourse, HBD should be used as payments, its good that it pays yields, but I do feel atleast for users to not get scared felling scammed due to high APR, set it realistically as its in other protocols.
I am for trimming of APR... to not have the user perceive this as beware, that's dangerous.
I read articles that say, if dapp offers unrealistic apr beware!!
It takes time to do research, and understand ecosystem and there is always a risk. Because we don't know how HBD would react when something large scale happens, only theorise it, its not proved and tested yet!!
Yes, create more value for hive with dapps, and educate users.
For instance, people should know they can actually exchange HBD for any other stable coin on dapps built by @leofinance team connected to other Blockchains.
But hive has so much from my experience, its not one niche, its social media but has other small elements of DEFI, and things writtens like me have not explored like Hive DEFI and games and video streaming...its overwhealing , and on top of this these economics stuff... lot to digest.
So, I would again say people have to understand how HBD is different from collapsed algorithmic stablecoins like terraUST first. Rest will develop after that...
Because many stablecoins like SILK have abandoned idea of algorithmic stablecoin and are pegged to real assets, so Hive is going ahead confident that it has mechanisms in place that prevent death spiral.
So, until that level of maturity and awareness sets in to majority of users, and if we have to attract new users, set realistic APRs for now, later accordingly if more use cases for HBD comes over, go ahead and set the APR rates higher rates.
Let's remember, or atleast I feel Hive is very decentralised and community can get involved in voting for proposals like increase and setting of HBD interest rates, although I know its actually automatic, based on price decline and rise of Hive.
When price declines beyond a point, a mechanism kicks in that would remove liquidity and issuing of HBD (that's arithmically capped to Hive), all done to prevent death spiral ... but I can't explain it coz its complicated, articles are there by Hive witnesses that explain it nicely.
So, users read it and participate in governance proposals and discuss, its good stuff.
I am not that familiar with things outside writing on Hive, including the tokenomics of Hive and HBD and stuff...but I know something, and always Hive is my home...
And I can say whatever crypto I hold now is not just for speculative reasons, I need it to use it on dapps to pay fees etc. Ecosystem has matured!!
Since Hive is needed as access token, demand would be there for it surely.
HBD, I atleast can't convince others that its safe to be in, put all your money in, they won't listen, yes put some money, earn APR, involve in DEFI and learn and have fun, spread knowledge and be part of Hive community and spread love too!!!
