The river that flows thru my town looks like a straight line on a map (see photo below). God (or Nature) was more creative than that and didn’t plan rivers with a ruler. The river here used to meander like shown on the above drawing.
What happened to the river? 80 years ago it was regulated and forced into artificial river bed. The former meanders were dried and used for building a neighbourhood and some industry.
Today the original line of the river can be only traced by a short, 1km long foot path.
