Seamlessly escaping the city traffic, we drop onto the legendary Trasse鈥攁 magnificent old railway line reborn as an absolute cycling paradise!
Oh, the sheer, glorious speed of it! With virtually zero elevation to fight, you can just shift into the biggest gear, tuck down, and absolutely fly.
We breeze past joggers and casual riders, tires singing a high-speed hum on the ultra-smooth tarmac. It鈥檚 pure, uninterrupted cycling bliss, feeling the wind rush over your helmet as you carve through cool, cavernous tunnels and soar over sweeping viaducts like a rocket on rails!
But every epic ride needs a wild plot twist. Veering off those velvety flatlands, we plunged deep into the dense, untamed woods of Schwelm鈥攁nd took a brilliantly bad turn! Suddenly, the path pitched up into a gnarly, root-mangled wall of dirt that completely defied gravity. We had to unclip and shoulder the bikes, our stiff cycling shoes slipping in the dirt as we fiercely pushed our steeds back up the brutal incline.
Emerging from the woods with mud-splattered calves and massive, victorious grins, we happily reconnected with the flat sanctuary of the Trasse to spin our way home. The legs were burning beautifully from the forest ordeal, making that effortless, high-speed cruise back feel like absolute magic.
And what better way to celebrate a hard-fought adventure than pulling over for a towering, triumphant scoop of ice cream on the way back?
