so in frontends like esteem and peakd, you have the feature of seeing the posts of the people you follow. I follow a number of people, that i know that make good content for my mindless scrolling. Things they post, or reblog will appear in my feed in chronological order (thats the good thing about hive, no facebook algorythm dictating you what you think).

Alternatively if you dont have anyone to follow you can find people to follow by seeing who posts stuff of your interest and mark it with the corresponding tag. for example when i write news blogs i use the tags #informationwar and i find similar content when i browse those tags. also good payout of post does not correlate necessarily to good content, it can also mean a wealthy person upvoted it.
https://peakd.com/explore/created this is to explore the latest created posts
https://peakd.com/explore/trending this is to explore the posts that achieved in the last few days the most pay out
https://peakd.com/explore/created/informationwar this would give you the most recent informationwar posts (for example)

sometimes the tags can be also related to apps that run on hive, like D.Tube and 3speak.online are the hives version of youtube, and appics is something like instagram perhaps

though the content of these apps is perfectly visible on other frontends, sometimes its worth actually using the app, like on 3speak, to for example give a comment, as user activity is rewarded by a large upvote by the 3speak bots https://3speak.online/user/arabisouri

You can also click on the tags to find posts relating to these topics.

as you follow more people your feed becomes richer and it takes less efford to find likeable content, but its always good to step out of your bubble once in a while and view posts from people you dont follow (in my opinion at least)..

currently the get_feed function of the hive API is experiencing some problems, but peakd and esteem are 2 front ends that have worked aorund this. i believe in hive.blog you dont have the feature of seeing the posts of the people you follow (not sure if this is still an issue)...
