I went to Ha Giang on a day back in October 2019 when I came back Vietnam to visit my family. It was a short 3 days trip but left me unforgettable impressions about this mountain land, not just the picturesque scenery on the winding roads, but also the unique cultures and optimistic people from the ethnic minority groups at this northern province of Vietnam.
Ha Giang is the least developed province in Northern Vietnam, with poor infrastructure. The few roads that connect the small villages of Ha Giang are sometimes gravel, or dirt paths and they are still quite difficult to drive on, especially in winter time when the steep bends become really slippery. However, it doesn't stop travellers visiting Ha Giang every year to challenge those hard but beautiful roads and to be rewarded with the breathtaking views from the untouched nature.
Due to the difficult terrain and climate of the region, the ethnic minorities in Ha Giang experienced many difficulties in daily life. However, they are the most positive people that I've ever met, you will always get a friendly smile from local people on your road to explore this beautiful place. In addition, these ethnic people also maintain their traditional custom and cultures very well.
The ancient town of Dong Van, built in early 20th century, is a popular destination in Ha Giang tourism. The town is known for its rich cultural heritage, which includes beautiful architecture and ancient customs that can be found throughout the area. Dong Van town features narrow streets with traditional shops and markets scattered around the outskirts.
Cuisine is also a special feature of Ha Giang. The terrain here is unfavourable for developing agriculture, but the ethnic people here has made the most unique dishes from these little food ingredients that they could have.
Nho Que river is a is the most beautiful tourist destination for many visitors to Ha Giang. A boat trip on this beautiful river is a must do when you visit Ha Giang. The green color of the river's water and the majestic steep mountains standing along the river sides will overwhelm you.
Ha Giang can be found beautiful in any season, and for sure I will visit it again another day in the future.
Thank you for reading my post! And I hope this post will bring a beautiful part of my country closer to you.
