I am very impressed with the speed STEEMIT has expanded
Many people are drawn into the site with the hopes of getting some monetary reward. Some are truly viewing it as a profession and business, however some just want to see if their stories, ideas, and creations in general are perceived as having value by the community.
Some may want option to have alternative to a "$" indicating 'value' from community
Many articles I have seen deal with personal grief and tragedy. And it's wonderful to see people expressing their inner souls in a forum they can choose to maintain anonymity. And it's great to see support ($) being sent to these (and everyone else) based on votes. How cool would it be to also have option to accept only Steem Power (which we have now) and have it displayed in Steem Power units (maybe represented by some kind of non-monetary universal value symbol)? Even better, have this icon/symbol variable based on the poster's own creative choice. So if I was writing about some heartfelt subject, I could still get rewarded by Steem Power, and have it reflected in the post with say an icon of the Earth if it was environmental, an icon of a candle if it was a tribute to someone's memory, and so on..
What's in a Symbol anyway?
There's nothing wrong with having the $, just saying it would be nice to have the option to use another symbol when I select the "Pay me 100% in Steem Power" option. It may add another non-monetary dimension to STEEMIT's potential user base and content.
