Is Steemit the Stepping Stone to a Blockchain based Solution for the voting process?

Who would be president, if the voting process was run on a large blockchain based platform to select politicians?

One of the main reasons why I’m here on #steemit is because it makes me think about the possibility to build a similar platform, but for voting.

Many people seek solace by waiting it out, assuming that the current system will inevitably crash, assuming that’s when the opportunity will arise to let the free market take over. But looking back in history … usual after a financial crash or other disasters, even non-manmade disasters, like food shortage due to storms or draught, it tends to end in a military dictatorship, not a free market paradise.

While looking at Hong Kong, which so far is still the best example of minarchism working really good. So whatever that can be done to reduce the current size of the state, would definitely be a good step in the right direction.

Add my assumption to it that a better, honest, open, yet secured voting system for the actual political system will give a lot more power and influence to the middle ground, because I do think that’s what you see happening here on #steemit, there’s hardly any spam, or other types of abuse and that’s thanks to the reward system … everybody is at their best behavior here :)

So, just like bitcoin was the stepping stone for steemit, so can steemit be the stepping stone for a voting system that allows people to really get involved … at least I hope so.

Too bad I’m not a developer myself, otherwise I wouldn’t be here talking about it, but trying to morph steemit into 'VOTEbits' right now !!

All I can do is bring it up here in the hope the idea takes off … maybe we could start a crowd fund campaign to get some developers together and work on it. What do you think? #votebits
