RE: Thoughts about the newest Humble Drop and Historical Listing (up to March 2021)
Control is a great game, and I highly recommend it. It's one of those genre-blending experiences where it's almost all focused on storytelling with low-drag gameplay elements, and it's hyper-tailored for

I've heard that, but I don't believe it myself.

RE: Masters of Teaching Mind Dump #4
I wish I could say that it necessarily gets better over the course of the program, but the truth is that you probably won't get solid advice on implementation until you're in the classroom from other teachers.

RE: Game Development | Upgrading To A Newer Unreal Engine Version
For what it's worth, I don't have a raytracing capable card either. It's interesting that you can't just automatically bake all your project shaders in UE, though I suppose there's a benefit to having

RE: Adventures In Advancement-Now With Fresh Bread!
On one hand, it's good that the bread is not terribly palatable, on the other the problem is that I wind up getting the fancy bakery bread. When they say "best thing since sliced bread" I think

Some advice I have for differentiation: Think about things that you might do specifically to help students like using physical proximity for students who have special needs that require that (most often

RE: Adventures In Advancement-Now With Fresh Bread!
If this gives some relief from the mediocrity that is the average sliced bread in supermarkets it would be enough to make me eat carbs again. That is, if there were one near me.

RE: Deploy the Narwhal Of Nope
One thing that I've learned as I got older is that the more you focus on what makes you happy the happier you'll be. Letting things you want gnaw at you is a great recipe for always looking toward desire

RE: [GAME DESIGN] Variant Environmental Effects and Enabling Game Designs
Great post! Talking about how designs need to follow the desired experience is something that I don't see enough people do, myself sometimes included.

RE: Velocity and the Death of Fractional Banking/Lending
I mean, the thing is that there's a real question about the degree it's permissible. One thing that needs to be clear is that any bank with fractional reserves needs to advertise the portion of cash assets

RE: A Skeptic's Read Through Marx: Part 5
Some Hegelians are people who have little in the way of an association with authoritarianism (e.g. Stirner), but it's fair to say that Continental philosophy more broadly has strains of absolutism and

RE: A Skeptic's Read Through Marx: Part 5
Marx and Engels seem to be particularly exacerbated by the way that Hegel's own way of doing things is reflected in their work. Hegel is notorious for his defense of autocracy. He makes a case that a robust

RE: A Skeptic's Read Through Marx: Part 5
You're not alone in finding Marx/Engels to be pretty incomprehensible. I've heard that pretty much all of the Hegelians are, but they seem to be particularly good at ignoring input information and reaching

RE: Velocity and the Death of Fractional Banking/Lending
I long for the day when fractional reserve banking is a nothing but a dark legacy of economic ignorance looked back upon with scorn and derision.

RE: Exoworld Update 8: February 2021 Overview
Right now it's just the early process of setting up the foundations. Once I get more stuff done I'll probably start work on the dedicated quick-start guide and look for playtesters.

RE: Exoworld Update 5: Thinking About Markets, Character Development, Difficulty
I don't know if I'm quite to the level of industry pro, but I think it's interesting to see how the sausage is made. Most people don't have quite the level of output that I do, and you'll probably never

RE: SUPERHOT is 5 years old
Yeah. It really feels almost like a Doom-caliber game, in the sense that it's a very pure expression of a subgenre within the FPS sphere.

RE: SUPERHOT is 5 years old
I started playing Mind Control Delete yesterday and I'm struck by how immediately timeless Superhot is and also how much they iterated on it to add layered systems on top of such a solid gameplay loop.
