I understand that choosing the laziest, most unsophisticated content discovery system is easier then building an advanced algorithm from free and available data onchain but that doesnt make either system in any way more or less centralized. Thats dogma and its wrong.

Theres nothing "legacy" about advanced content discovery systems. Everything about "rank by number big" should be whats called "legacy", its prehistoric.
The current system is not more enlightened, advanced or more sophisticated in any way for you to call algos "legacy".
