My last walk was along the beautiful South Downs Way, which stretches for about 100 miles across the rolling hills of southern England. I chose a section that started from the charming village of Amberley and headed towards Arundel, known for its stunning castle.

As I walked, the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. The hills were blanketed in vibrant green grass, dotted with wildflowers, and I could see the impressive chalk cliffs in the distance. Along the path, I encountered a few local farmers tending to their sheep, which added a lovely pastoral touch to the landscape.

I met a couple of fellow hikers, a friendly pair from Bristol who were eager to explore the trails. We exchanged stories about our favorite walks and shared tips on lesser-known routes. They were on a mission to complete the entire South Downs Way, which inspired me to consider tackling it in sections myself.

A highlight of the walk was reaching a viewpoint overlooking Arundel, where I could see the historic castle rising majestically above the town. The sun was beginning to set, casting a golden hue over the landscape, and it felt magical. After a moment of taking it all in, I decided to treat myself to a slice of homemade cake at a quaint café in Arundel, where I chatted with the owner about the history of the town and its castle.

Overall, the walk was not just about the beautiful sights, but also the connections made along the way and the stories shared. Each journey brings a new adventure, and I can’t wait for my next one!
