Starting in the charming market town of Chipping Campden, I was greeted by its beautiful wool churches and historic buildings. The streets are lined with honey-colored stone, which seems to glow in the sunlight. I took a moment to visit the Court Barn Museum, which offers a glimpse into the area’s rich history of crafts and trade, particularly in wool production.
As I made my way into the countryside, the path led me through lush meadows and alongside ancient woodlands. The vibrant colors of autumn foliage were a spectacular sight, with leaves in shades of gold and crimson. I kept an eye out for wildlife, and I was fortunate enough to spot some deer gracefully leaping through the trees.
One of the highlights of the walk was reaching the viewpoint at Broadway Tower. The tower itself is a folly built in the late 18th century and is quite iconic. From its observation deck, I could see far across the Severn Valley and even as far as the Malvern Hills. The view was breathtaking, and I took a moment to appreciate the serenity of the landscape.
Along the way, I met a few fellow walkers, including an elderly couple who had been hiking the Cotswold Way for years. They shared stories of their favorite sections of the trail and gave me tips on hidden gems to explore in the surrounding villages. It was heartwarming to hear their enthusiasm and deep appreciation for the area, reminding me of the camaraderie that comes with walking.
