My last walk took me along the beautiful South Downs Way in Sussex, a stunning national trail that showcases the rolling hills and picturesque landscapes of Southern England. The weather was clear, with the sun casting a golden glow across the fields, making it a perfect day for a long trek.

As I set off from the village of Eastbourne, I was greeted by the sight of the iconic white chalk cliffs of the Seven Sisters. The contrast between the bright blue sea and the cliffs was breathtaking. I couldn't resist stopping to take some photos and soak in the view. It’s incredible to think about the geological history behind those cliffs, formed from soft chalk and shaped by the relentless action of the sea.

Along the way, I encountered a few fellow hikers. One particularly interesting group was a family visiting from London. They were keen on exploring the countryside and had a wealth of questions about the area. I shared some insights into the rich history of the South Downs, mentioning how these hills have been inhabited since prehistoric times, as evidenced by the ancient burial mounds and flint tools found in the area.

I also had a lovely chat with a local shopkeeper who recommended a particularly nice tea room. It turned out to be a great suggestion, and I enjoyed a traditional cream tea while sitting outside, taking in the sights and sounds of the village.

The highlight of my day was reaching the summit of Butser Hill, the highest point on the South Downs. The panoramic views were simply spectacular, stretching out over the countryside and even as far as the Isle of Wight on a clear day. There were several mountain bikers at the top, and we exchanged friendly banter about the best spots to ride.

Overall, it was a wonderful walk filled with natural beauty, engaging conversations, and a sense of
