Starting from the charming village of Corfe Castle, I was immediately captivated by the ruins of the medieval castle perched on the hilltop. The history of Corfe is fascinating; it dates back to the 11th century and played a key role during the English Civil War. As I walked, I could almost hear the echoes of the past, imagining the battles that took place there.
As I made my way down the path, I followed the scenic route towards Swanage. The views were breathtaking, with rolling hills on one side and the expansive sea on the other. I spotted a variety of wildlife, including rabbits hopping through the grasslands and seagulls soaring above.
Along the way, I had the pleasure of meeting a local artist named Margaret, who was set up at a small viewpoint painting the landscape. We chatted about her work and her inspiration drawn from the natural beauty of the area. She told me about a few historical landmarks I hadn’t known about, including the old Victorian pier at Swanage and the stories behind it.

By the time I reached Swanage, I was ready for some well-deserved fish and chips from a local shop. I sat on the beach, enjoying the salty breeze and soaking in the views of the Purbeck Hills in the distance. It was a perfect conclusion to a wonderful day of exploration and connection with both nature and history.
