As I set off from Painswick, the first thing that struck me was the striking Cotswold stone architecture. The honey-colored buildings, with their slate roofs and quaint gardens, lent a timeless quality to the village. I took a moment to explore the Church of St. Mary, known for its beautiful yew trees and stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
On the trail, I was greeted by rolling hills and lush farmland. The fields were dotted with sheep, their bleating echoing softly in the air. I paused to take in the views of the valleys and the distant hills, many of which are covered in patchwork fields and ancient woodlands. I even spotted a few hikers along the way, and we exchanged friendly greetings, sharing a few words about our mutual love for the outdoors.
As I approached the village of Edge, I met a lovely couple who were also walking the Cotswold Way. They were from London and had come to enjoy a weekend escape to the countryside. We chatted about our favorite historical sites in the area, and they recommended visiting Sudeley Castle, which I had yet to see. They pointed out some beautiful wildflowers along the path, including bluebells and primroses, which added vibrant colors to the landscape.
The weather was perfect, with a gentle breeze and the sun peeking through the clouds. I took a break near a picturesque stone wall that overlooked a quaint farm, where I enjoyed a packed lunch while soaking in the scenery.
As I continued my walk, I passed through the quaint village of Nailsworth, known for its independent shops and cafes.
