As I walked, I was greeted by the delightful sights of golden fields, scattered sheep, and vibrant wildflowers. One of the highlights was passing through the quaint village of Bourton-on-the-Water, often referred to as the "Venice of the Cotswolds" due to the lovely river that runs through it. The little bridges over the River Windrush were enchanting, and I couldn't resist stopping for a while to admire the scenery.
Along the way, I also visited the impressive Broadway Tower, a folly built in the 18th century that stands at a high point and offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The tower's historical significance is fascinating, and it was built for Lady Mary Oxford, who wanted a picturesque retreat.
I met several fellow walkers during my journey; one lovely couple from London who were celebrating their anniversary. We shared stories about our travels and discussed the best walks in the country. They told me about their fondness for the Lake District, and I promised to explore that area next.
As I strolled, the weather cooperated beautifully, with the sun shining and a gentle breeze just perfect for a day out in nature. I ended my walk in the village of Chipping Campden, enjoying a delicious cream tea at a local café while reflecting on the day. It was a perfect way to immerse myself in the rich history and natural beauty of the Cotswolds!
