My last walk was along the stunning south coast of England, specifically the Seven Sisters cliffs in East Sussex. It was a crisp autumn day, with the leaves turning vibrant shades of orange and gold, making the landscape feel almost magical.

As I started my walk from the village of Seaford, I was greeted by breathtaking views of the chalk-white cliffs rising dramatically against the deep blue of the English Channel. The combination of the sea breeze and the sound of waves crashing below created a serene atmosphere. Along the way, I spotted a group of hardy sheep grazing on the lush green slopes, oblivious to the stunning scenery around them.

The path led me past the iconic Beachy Head lighthouse, standing sentinel against the waves. It's fascinating to think about the maritime history of this area, which has seen countless ships navigating these waters, often relying on the lighthouse for safe passage.

I met some fellow walkers, one of whom was a retired history teacher. We struck up a conversation about the history of the area, discussing not just the cliffs but also the ancient burial mounds nearby, believed to date back to the Bronze Age. She shared stories about the legends of shipwrecks that have occurred along the coast, which made the walk even more engaging.

As I reached the top of the cliffs, I paused to take in the view, simply overwhelmed by the beauty of nature. The sight of the rolling hills meeting the ocean was a reminder of why I love exploring England so much. The history, the landscapes, and the people I meet along the way always enrich my walks, and I can’t wait to plan my next adventure!
