As I strolled along the riverbank, I admired the iconic low stone bridges and quaint cottages that line the waterway. I stopped to take some photos, capturing the essence of the village with its vibrant flowers and thatched roofs. The local shops were delightful, and I couldn’t resist popping into a small tea room for a scone with clotted cream and strawberry jam.
Continuing my walk, I ventured towards Lower Slaughter, another charming village just a short distance away. The tranquility of the area was captivating, and I witnessed a few locals walking their dogs, exchanging friendly smiles. One gentleman, who introduced himself as George, shared some history about the area, pointing out an old mill that dates back to the 18th century. He told me it had been renovated and now serves as a museum, which piqued my interest for a future visit.
The path led me through fields dotted with sheep, and I appreciated the stunning views of the surrounding countryside. I also came across some ancient stone walls and remnants of old farms, which reminded me of the rich agricultural history of the Cotswolds.
Towards the end of my walk, I made my way to a viewpoint overlooking the valley, where I took a moment to soak in the beauty of the landscape. The hues of orange and gold from the trees against the backdrop of the distant hills were simply breathtaking.
