As I walked, I was surrounded by quintessential English countryside: rolling hills, quaint stone cottages, and fields dotted with sheep. One of the highlights was passing through the charming village of Broadway, often referred to as the ‘Jewel of the Cotswolds.’ I couldn’t resist stopping to admire the beautiful honey-colored limestone buildings and the iconic Broadway Tower, a folly that offers breathtaking views over the landscape.
Along the way, I encountered a few fellow walkers. One lovely couple from Birmingham shared some fascinating stories about their own travels in the Cotswolds, and we exchanged tips on lovely spots to visit. I also met a local artist who was sketching the scenery; she told me about the inspiration she draws from the natural beauty around her.
I also took a moment to enjoy the flora and fauna. I spotted a variety of wildflowers and even a few butterflies fluttering about, which added splashes of color to the green and gold of the landscape. The scent of wild garlic filled the air in certain spots, reminding me of how nature can be both beautiful and fragrant.
As I wrapped up my walk and returned to my starting point in Chipping Campden, I felt a sense of fulfillment. There's something so enriching about immersing oneself in both history and nature, and the Cotswolds never disappoints. It’s a walk I’d highly recommend to anyone looking to experience the beauty of England!
