On my last walk, I explored the ancient city of York in North Yorkshire. As I strolled along the cobbled streets, I passed by the impressive York Minster, a Gothic cathedral that dates back to the 7th century. The intricate stained glass windows and towering spires were truly awe-inspiring.

I also wandered through The Shambles, a narrow medieval street lined with timber-framed buildings that lean in towards each other, creating a tunnel-like effect. It felt like I had stepped back in time as I imagined what life was like in York centuries ago.

One of the highlights of my walk was stumbling upon Clifford's Tower, a historic castle keep perched on a mound overlooking the city. The views from the top were breathtaking, offering a panoramic vista of York and the surrounding countryside.

As I made my way through the city, I met a local historian who shared fascinating stories about York's rich history, from its Roman roots to its Viking past. We chatted about the city's connection to famous figures like Richard III and Guy Fawkes, making my walk even more engaging and informative.

Overall, my walk in York was a wonderful blend of stunning architecture, intriguing history, and friendly encounters with locals. It's a place I'd highly recommend for anyone interested in exploring England's past and present.
