One of the first notable sights I encountered was the iconic Roman Baths, for which the city is named. These ancient thermal baths were built by the Romans nearly 2,000 years ago and are incredibly well-preserved. I couldn't help but imagine what life must have been like during the Roman era as I walked around the intricate architecture and marvelled at the ancient artifacts on display.
Continuing my walk, I came across the grand Bath Abbey, a magnificent Gothic church that dates back to the 7th century. Its towering spires and intricate stained glass windows were truly awe-inspiring. I took some time to explore the interior, and it was fascinating to learn about the abbey's history and the famous people buried within its walls.
As I wandered through the town's narrow streets, I stumbled upon the charming Pulteney Bridge. This picturesque bridge spans the River Avon and is lined with quaint shops and boutiques. It reminded me of the Ponte Vecchio in Florence, Italy. I couldn't resist pausing to enjoy the view and take a few photos.
One of the highlights of my walk was meeting a local guide named William. He was quite the character and had an impressive knowledge of Bath's history. We struck up a conversation near the Royal Crescent, a crescent-shaped row of Georgian townhouses that is a prominent symbol of the city. William regaled me with stories about the famous residents who had once lived there and the architectural marvels of the time.
As the afternoon wore on, I made my way to the lovely Victoria Park, where I soaked in the tranquility of the green surroundings. It was the perfect spot to rest and reflect on the history-filled walk I had taken.
All in all, my walk
