This is life!

Our adopted feline 'grandchild', has been living with us for four months now; our job was to groom him for his coronation. Yes, he was spoiled rotten and still is.
He was like a little orphan when our son and his girlfriend first introduced him to us and our home, but left three weeks later to go and live across the waters when they emigrated to the Netherlands.

The boot is on the other foot now.

His Majesty King Poe the First stepped onto the throne last week, about the same time as King Charles III.

His Royal Highness does not have any royal duties; no, he lives a life of luxury, lazing around - eats, sleeps, hunts, sleeps, sleeps, and sleeps his life away.

I've become the most ungrateful courtier; he leaves gifts at my feet that I totally reject; lizards, geckos, and the most unwanted gift of them all, little birds.

I had the nerve to be impudent, yes, took my life in my own hands, by trying to save the little bird, to no avail, scolded him and let him know I was not happy with this gift!

I could have been given corporal punishment in the form of a vicious feral stabbing by the king's razor-sharp tongue teeth, and claws!
I already suffered that lot, and think I told you all about how I ended up at the doctor's, for a painful tetanus shot, and antibiotics as the bite was deep!

I would rather be locked up in the tower than suffer puncture wounds from King Poe again!

Despite all the misdeeds, Poe has managed to find his way into my heart.
A heart that used to be ice-cold when it came to cats; there was no way he was going to charm me!

However, I have succumbed to his charms, and will leave it at. I had to swallow my pride: I was not ever going to allow a cat in my home because I love my garden birds more.

Thankfully some of the birds have learned how to frighten him off by making loud screeching noises.

Poe becomes a real scaredy cat as he doesn't like any sudden noises; even opening up a bottle of fizzy drink makes him jump up and run a mile!

Our son got him from their local SPCA when he was a kitten. All the other kittens hid away in the corners of the large cage, but Poe boldly walked up to them, so he in fact chose his new Mom and Dad, not the other way around!

He's now become Grandpa's favourite, meows at me if I take too long in the kitchen at dinner time, as he likes Grandma and Grandpa sitting with him in the lounge at night while he sleeps on his throne; this time on Grandpa's lap.

Not a care in the world, total bliss!
