Heh. Trust me, no one is swayed by Shakespeare in high school because no one understands what he's going on about. Romeo and Juliet takes place in Italy, which is a Latin country. Latins (e,g. French, Spanish, Italians) are known for their amorous approach to romance as opposed to the Anglo-Saxons, Germanic, or Slavic people. So it appears that Shakespeare was aware of this, and so he's descriptions of love are very heavy breathing and full of hidden innuendos 😜

You were raised in a Germanic environment, so I take that your approach to romance is different even when young. So, if I had come up to you and said, "Oh @erh.germany you have the loveliest figure, like the sinuous curves of the Rhine river, your eyes as beauteous as the sky, and your bosoms more lovely than the Alps." Then you probably roll your eyes because I would sound childish to you 🙄 But if I were to say the same thing to a woman from a different culture, she might look coyly at me, hide her smile behind a handkerchief, which she will then drop to the ground so I pick it up. :)

So I think, it's not just age, but culture.

I should really translate more of Shakespeare into modern speak, so people can see why this dude is so adored by the English speaking world.
