RE: [STEEM/HIVE] Predicting the Future is The Hardest Part of Being a Seer
I remember a study of mathematician Odlyzko, that the value of the internet comes from the interaction and not from the content anyways. Steem is nowhere near rewarding the most communicative pieces of

wow, one of the best comments I have read here since month. I almost lost hope that people here are actually into logic of distributed consensus. I've been writing about this stuff, on and off, for a lot

RE: Discussion: Changing how the values of posts are decided.
I suspect that present circumstances do actually necessitate Hive evolution towards natural societal valuations, or Hive will diseventuate. You're not wrong on any point you make above, but existential

I have read those papers but they have an essential problem. They're wrong. Or less succinctly, they fall prey to the "I can make shit up, too" fallacy, which to be fair is a very common state

If anyone were to listen to me on the subject (and they don't, which means I can safely say anything I want to), I would probably point out that "curation" doesn't mean in any other context what

RE: Discussion: Changing how the values of posts are decided.
Here is the problem, and it is elemental to the way that Steem/Hive works: It is through the process of making and taking the bets that the value of a post is determined. Coupled with the proof of stake

RE: [STEEM] And Now, for Extra Irony ...
Unfortunately, the problem on both sides seems to have been aggravated by people mincing words when they needed to convey a whole thought. And it got worse yet when both sides acted like an echo chamber

Would any commercial website support a post that encourages all users to migrate to another one? No. That would not be in the best interest of the community and the Steem ecosystem. If we are actually

Well, since you were good enough to ask… Let's take it a step back and have an up front question: Do you want an interface that operates on Hive? I've seen a lot of "what we want" statements

RE: So...that's the plan in the U.S. for dealing with Coronavirus?!
How many people died from influenza A and influenza B last year? I'm betting you don't know. In the US, somewhere between 35,000 and 65,000. Even though it is a highly studied viral infection that we have

I don't know. Do you need one? When people let their emotions get ahead of their reason, especially when it involves their business, they often need someone to point out that they're falling down on the

It doesn't need to be. But if you're going to have an emotional rant in which you raise questions, it's probably good to listen to the answer to those questions no matter how you feel about them. Putting

And why? Because money talks? If I say "proof of stake require stake to make proof," is that a little too on the nose? I mean, it is right there in the basic definition of the commodity and

I'd say that the important phrase is "at the moment." Until they have something ready to deploy (and I mean that in a very literal sense), they can afford to let you hold that territory. Since

Some quick thoughts. We should not have 30 witness votes. If there is a top 20, then one should not be able to vote more than 10. 20 in my mind is not very decentralized and having 30 votes makes it easy
