British researchers have found the smallest ever discovered star.

It is called 'EBLM J0555-57Ab', is about 600 light years away from Earth and only slightly larger than the planet Saturn, as the scientists of the University of Cambridge write in the journal 'Astronomy & Astrophysics'. Much smaller stars might not be, they report.

"This star is smaller and probably colder than many of the gigantic gas exoplanets identified so far," said a spokesman for the research group. The power of 'EBLM J0555-57Ab', however, is 300 times stronger than on Earth. The mini-star was discovered as he passed a larger star.
