I dealing with others, how have I recognized their faults?
And he told them a parable, "Cane a blind person guide a blind person? Will not both fall into a pit? No disciple is superior to the teacher; but when fully trained, every disciple will be like his teacher. Why do you notice the splinter in your brother's eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own? How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me remove that splinter in your eye, 'when you do not even notice the wooden beam in your own eye? You hypocrite! Remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter in your brother's eye.
Complaints-we hear these often and, most of the time, they come from our own mouths. We complain about every little thing that is not done right. Do not get me wrong. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting things to be done right and for things to be ideal. We have to be ideal because God's love is ideal. But in the gospel today, we are reminded to not be self-righteous but to live a righteous life as well.
When we complain about government officials and fight for them do the right thing, let us als remember to do the right thing for our country and our people. When we complain about other people not following the rules, let us remember that the same rules apply to us too. When we complain about others not being loving, patient, understanding, caring or not listening, we have to realize that being aware of these values means that we have to apply them in how we deal with the people around us too. When we remove the splinter in our brother's eye, we have to make sure that the wooden beam in ours has also been removed.
