Hello everyone!
Today I want to tell you about a company that I can see beyond a shadow of a doubt creates high quality CBD products and sells them at very reasonable prices. This company is called Industrial Hemp Supply based out of Colorado Springs, Colorado. They grow CBD rich industrial hemp. They grow all of their hemp in El Paso county.
Its real hard to find good CBD products. The main reason for this is because of the regulatory hoops many companies have to jump through so they can be absolutely free from consequence according to their lawyers. This has resulted in many sub quality products being introduced into the CBD market space. Some companies who are involved in large industrial hemp productions have found opportunity in their hemp. They can give large quantities of industrial hemp a solvent bath to extract the trace cannabinoid profiles. These trace profiles although being CBD profiles are not high quality profiles. This is not necessarily matter of dishonesty but a lack of knowledge of the plant. Now from there if the CBD is isolated you have low quality stand alone CBD that is not anywhere near as valuable as it was because it was removed from its original cannabinoid profile and that synergistic package has more medicinal qualities to it then the stand alone molecular CBD. The reason a company would isolate the CBD is to get pure CBD or because they don't even want to deal with minuscule amounts of THC for fear/concern of potential risk.
So what makes a good CBD product?
Well, it starts with the plant. Just like how dispensaries work with breeders who breed select strains to be high in THC and have certain terpene profiles, you want the same with CBD. You want the CBD to be highly concentrated in the original plant and you want that occurrence to be natural. The more skilled the breeder, the higher the quality of the plant, and therefor the more potent the CBD. There are multiple extraction techniques out there. But we are going to talk about the one that Industrial Hemp Supply uses. They use a food grade ethanol extraction. This extraction uses a powerful solvent that is not harmful to humans, but it efficiently removes and isolates all the beneficial cannabinoids, terpenes, and other beneficial constituents from the plant material as well. The alcohol is then distilled off to isolate the cannabis oil and the alcohol is reclaimed. This means that it saves IHS costs on the production process but it also ensures that there is no waste. After this process the alcohol can be reused, that means there is no bad alcohol byproduct that needs to find a safe place or a specific use. I had the opportunity to speak with Jackson Tine (Co-Owner of Industrial Hemp Supply) recently and I asked him why he and his partner had chosen this particular method to which he replied, "We researched lots of different processes that we could have used to do this, we seen that Rick Simpson had pioneered a similar method that seemed to be having great success. We made a few minor changes to the process where we use ethanol instead of isopropyl, we use commercial and laboratory equipment instead of your average stove. We also grow everything organically and sustainably not using any fertilizers or nutrients or pesticides. We want to keep the products as close to mother nature as we can." So after the process this means that Industrial Hemp Supply is then left with an very highly concentrated CBD product. If anyone is interested in the Rick Simpson method and would like to learn the process it can be found here.
This is what the concentrated cannabis oil derived from CBD rich hemp looks like. For those who aren't familiar with medical packaging, these syringes have no needles, these are oral syringes. Syringes are used as packaging because they allow an individual to take accurate and consistent amounts and it keeps the product from drying out and being ruined. This extract is very potent and people have been using it to find relief for ailments not available anywhere else on the market. This product does contain trace amounts of THC but it will not get you high, but because of that reason there are still states out there that this product can't be shipped to at the moment. I asked Jackson if IHS was working towards being able to extract the THC from the cannabis oil so it could potentially be shipped to all 50 states. He said, "We are going to be working with a company very soon that will allow us to remove the THC from our extracts. We are very excited about the potential that working with this company will offer." I asked if that means IHS can ship this product everywhere even internationally and his response was, "We still have lots of legal research to do before I can answer that. The regulatory environment of all cannabis related products is always changing and I don't want to say I can do something if I'm not totally sure it is in fact legal. But any steps that my team and I can make as a company to modify our products to be more friendly to regulation without sacrificing the integrity of our products we will. This translates to more potential people that can have access to CBD products. We are always working to do what we can on our end to make sure the greatest amount of people possible have access to our products." I was able to view some of the testing results that IHS has on hand and they have a consistent track record of being able to produce hemp derived cannabis oils with concentrations of 50-70% This is absolutely amazing.
Extracts are not the only thing that Industrial Hemp Supply has to offer. They also make tinctures, salve, capsules and lotion. They also create the products themselves, they oversee the whole process from seed to sale. Of these products the most interesting one I thought they offered of the bunch was the tincture. All their products are very basic created with simple organic ingredients. The tincture is only MCT oil, Sunflower lecithin, and the CBD extract. I did some reading on these ingredients and I was shocked at the complex ability of something that seemed so simple. When the CBD is bonded with the MCT oil, when introduced into the stomach it doesn't have to wait around to be digested it passes on to the liver where it goes directly into the bloodstream. It goes to the brain where it can cross over the blood brain barrier and the CBD can really go to work doing what it does. This combination greatly enhances the distribution of CBD through the human body by using the natural processes of the body to do so.
I asked Jackson what was on the horizon for IHS. "Well, we are working to do whatever we can to get our products out there. We have a field that we can't wait to harvest this fall. We are working to get our products into stores here locally and we are having success with that. We are going to be building greenhouses soon. We also have our website that people can log onto and purchase products from. We are vending at the local farmer's markets here in the Springs and Manitou. We will be vending any expo/trade show we can get into all winter. We will be vending higher profile festivals that we can get into next year. We are working to get our already low prices even lower. We are really doing everything we can to get these products in the hands of people who want and need them. The more sales we make, the more money we have to invest back into our operation to continue to improve and evolve the quality of our products from the actual production of the physical products to their appearance and everything in between. We are also pioneering a model unlike any other we have seen in the industry that allows us to offer fantastic price points for premium quality products and we have the ability to make the products even more affordable as time goes on. What good is the greatest product in the world if nobody can afford it?"
The hemp market has so much potential to do so much good. I asked Jackson if he would be ok with posting some science on his concentrate. He said it's already on the internet but I'm welcome to use it. The link for that is here. As the science reveals there are no pesticides in their concentrate, the only residual solvent is ethanol, and the microbial report is well below the acceptable limits. By every measurable standard I can observe Industrial Hemp Supply is creating potent natural products that people will have all kinds of use for. This is at least one company out there that is doing it right. So if you are still reading and would like to check them out their website it is here. Their website links to all their social media. If you sign up for their email list they also routinely offer discounts on their products with promo codes. If you live in Colorado Springs you can also purchase their products at Hemplements and Debbi's Aromatherapy.
