Blood oranges - one of natures marvels
Sweeter than the normal orange and beautiful to look at! These photos taken this morning show the absolute wonder of colour in the blood orange.
If you haven’t had the pleasure of trying this unique orange, I recommend it.
What are blood oranges?
As the name suggests, the inside of a blood oranges is red in color. These that I photographed this morning were only ted on the inside defined by red tinges.
Absolutely spectacular!!!
Where does the red color come from?
Blood oranges are “bloody” from a pigment called anthocyanin. This pigment is widely found in the plant kingdom.

Anthocyanin is reported to have many health benefits:
-powerful antioxidant: can slow or prevent the growth of cancer cells–and even kill them.
-contain high amounts of Vitamin
-potassium,
-Vitamin A,
