It's been more or less a month since the Greek government decided to call our 9-month lockdown quits so every shop is back in business. Since then, me and illusivelf@illusivelf visit at least 1 new bar or restaurant around Thessaloniki city every week and try out a ton of different tastes.

Yesterday, illusivelf@illusivelf did her magic (once again) and after reading a ton of reviews she discovered this hidden gem called "Mpaxtses" (greek : Μπαχτσές), a restaurant located at the east side of the city.

Getting to "Mpaxtses" restaurant was no easy task. It was a 30 minutes ride in the city bus and then a 10 minutes walk from where we stopped.

At first glance there's nothing special about this restaurant but ...

... illusivelf@illusivelf and I knew there was this beautiful back yard. To be honest, I wasn't expecting the yard to be that beautiful.

"Mpaxtses" stands for "garden" in Greek and this backyard was living up to it's name. Colourful flower pots were all over the place and were matching perfectly with the rest of the decor.

The service was very polite, friendly and god damn these guys were fast!

Our "wrapped salad", "saganaki" and potatoes with kephalotiri cheese were on our table in 10 minutes.

All portions were really big and especially this "wrapped salad". Lotus, carrot, corn, tomatoes, arugula, red/yellow pepper and "Mpaxtses" sos on a wrap? Creative and delicious

Of course we didn't stop there and ordered a couple of main dishes too.

I ordered an "Elasonitiko" which basically is fresh side pork wrapped with bacon and illusivelf@illusivelf ordered an "eksochiko" which is chicken with peppers, herbs, mustard and cow milk dressing.

Both of them were so well-cooked and tasty. My hunger and these smells made me forget to take a photo of illusivelf@illusivelf's "Eksochiko" but I did shot a couple cool photos of my "Ellasonitiko".

20 Minutes Later...

After a tough "fight", me and illusivelf@illusivelf managed to prevail and eat pretty much everything.

You can actually see illusivelf@illusivelf's "Eksochiko" at the back

The feast didn't stop there though. The waiter asked us if we wanna eat a desert and even though there wasn't any room in my belly, I had to reply YES. I can't say no to some f*cking sugar haha!

In our sweet surprise, the desert was our of the ordinary. Most restaurants offer the "classics" like syrup deserts or "mosaic" but not this one.

Pancakes with melted chocolate and biscuits on top accompanied with whipped cream?!?

That's what I call desert

⭐️ Rating : 9/10 ⭐️

I am giving "Mpaxtses" restaurant 9 instead of 10 just because I am saving my 10 for something really really special.

Perfect vibes, excellent service, tasty and unique food and affordable. In my opinion, a must-eat restaurant if you ever visit Thessaloniki city.

Mpaxtses Restaurand is located at Leof. Vasilissis Olgas 211, Thessaloniki 546 46
