For the first time, I'm having the challenge of knowing what to write for the hive learners PROMPT for week 81 episode 2. This is because I've come to view weddings a bit differently from the norms, and I haven't focused my thoughts on a dream wedding per se, only on the person I wish to get married to. Left to me, a lot of things will not happen on my wedding day. So let me use this opportunity to establish the fact that I don't have a dream wedding as I'm majorly concerned about building a great home while being married. The road to marriage is a wedding, which can be done in so many ways so long two are joined as one.

No shades thrown at married people here, or those having a different opinion on the subject of what a wedding should look like, but I feel apart from the bride price and adds-on paid to the bride's family, (which is the mandatory form of marriage in Africa and Nigeria) there's no need to prepare for any extras. The norm is after the traditional wedding, there will be a white wedding and reception for either the white wedding or both. This I feel isn't really necessary, as the money spent on all these should be invested in something more profitable.

I mean, if many spend half the effort they spend in planning a wedding on their marriage, there will be a lesser rate of divorce. But then again I haven't been married before and probably have a lot to learn about all I have just said. I do not also criticize having to do all the many ceremonies people do, if my future wife insists on it after I share my view on weddings, I'm very much going to pull through with her wish, understanding that this is the style of wedding a lot of people fancy and take important then again, she should be ready to support it financially as pulling this off will require some good amount of money. These are things that should be thoroughly discussed between couples and a whole lot of things need to be put into consideration regarding what the couples deem right for them.

I believe that the white weddings a lot of people do here is the traditional wedding of the English nations, and some other white nations. So doing it is like doing two traditional weddings which is as stressful as it is expensive. So I would instead love to have a small gathering for friends and families to witness the joining of my bride and me, after which we will have a feast and everyone will go home. Being an African will require me to do the traditional wedding which will be where the joining will take place, if I choose to be religious, I could invite my pastor over to bless the union and we all go home. But like I said earlier, if I get a good reason to follow the norm, I might just go with it.
