Hello Hivers

Spray Lakes Reservoir

This reservoir once consisted of two lakes, with a hydro electric dam installed it is now one large 21KM long lake.

There are many stops along this reservoir, which not only produces clean electricity, it is used for fishing, ice fishing is very popular here, boating, hiking, and just enjoying the scenery.

This particular area I stopped at....

is a day use area, so no overnight camping is allowed here.

It is only 30 min from the town of Canmore, however the only access is a dirt road which dissuades many people from enjoying this amazing area.

The water is actually the colour you see, it is not the result of editing. Mostly glacier water, the glaciers grind the rocks below and produce a flour, light particles that ...

reflect the sunlight, giving the water that blue green appearance.

It's a perfect spot for a lunch, walk, to go fishing or just relaxing by the water.

Towering above the reservoir on the other side is Mount Nestor and Old Goat Mountain.

Thank you for enjoying Spray Lakes reservoir with me.
