Thanks a lot. Yes, the area of izu is spectacular. It was a huge volcanic island millions of years ago which gradually crawled towards Japan and eventually hit it. The volcanism has created so many areas

The island is surrounded by rocks, but they put in an artificial beach to get the tourists in. Shimoda has the best, but crowded beaches, but there are nice beaches along the Izu coast, less crowded.
