Gothic or ogival architecture, if you prefer, incorporated innovative concepts for the time, breaking molds and giving concepts such as harmony the wonderful seduction of elegance, with the refractive property of glass being the primary catalyst for a new form. of reading, where the illuminated interiors made the building something more than a simple temple: a book open to all, where the light, united to the 'language of God', that is, to the Sacred Geometry, reproduced, in a metaphorical and eminently symbolic, the true miracle of Pentecost, where the spirit of everyone, from the prelate to the humble peasant, spoke the same language.
Confirmaba Miguel de Unamuno, en una de sus variadas, cuando no, floridas crónicas de viaje por España, la facilidad, que, en su caso, tenía para ‘leer’ -tal cual suena- un edificio tan sorprendente, como es, no cabe duda, esa gloriosa maravilla medieval, que, respondiendo al soberano apelativo de la ‘Pulchra Leonina’, es la catedral de León. Pudiera darse el caso, de que su mirada estuviera todavía bendecida por ese metafórico daño colateral de sapiencia, que, después del famoso milagro de Pentecostés, pareció caracterizar a una sociedad donde el ‘Verbo’ se hizo ‘Piedra’, siendo los canteros medievales, en este caso, los maestros indiscutibles de una época, que, bien terciado el siglo XII -siglo, que, entre otros grandes logros, vio despertar, también, ese fenómeno trovadoresco que tuvo su álgido apogeo en las denominadas Cortes de Amor o en el Amor Cortés- comenzaron a abandonar las oscuras obsolescencias de la arquitectura románica, para buscar la Luz de Dios en las alturas.
La arquitectura gótica u ojival, si se prefiere, incorporó conceptos innovadores para la época, rompiendo moldes y haciendo que a conceptos como la armonía se le otorgara la maravillosa seducción de la elegancia, siendo la propiedad refractante del vidrio el catalizador primordial de una nueva forma de lectura, donde los iluminados interiores hacían del edificio algo más que un simple templo: un libro abierto a todos, donde la luz, unida al ‘lenguaje de Dios’, es decir, a la Geometría Sagrada, reproducía, de una manera metafórica y eminentemente simbólica, el verdadero milagro de Pentecostés, donde el espíritu de todos, desde el prelado hasta el humilde campesino, hablaban el mismo idioma.
