Week 254 | My Splinterlands Art Contest Entry | Vera Salacia

Hello! 🥰

Thank God it's Friday! 🥳
For this week, I chose Vera Salacia! 💦 A very popular card. 😁 I was about to go with a dragon card and turned it into a semi-humanoid, but I think this card really caught my attention. It is nice that we can experiment with the cards. That way, we have more room to be creative.

Art Process

For me, this is a complicated pose 😅 I am not used to drawing a full body, but I said to maself, I have to! Practice and practice until I get comfortable. Good tutorial videos and a book I bought are a great help too. I find interesting and complicated poses usually on models. I used a red pen for the hair and the clothing. I had many tries doing the hair. 😅 The lineart is a breeze since the sketch is easy to follow.

I changed the clothing a little bit. Instead of a crop top and skirt, I did a body suit. The sleeves and the boots are the same. For the base color, I pick the shades with the same saturation. After coloring, I added another layer for the shadow of the skin. At this stage, I also did the eyes. I always go for the 3/4 head position these days. 😁

I separated the layers of shadowing of the clothing, hair, and skin. I imagine the bodysuit is kind of latex texture. It was hard doing the shadowing and lighting for the clothing, not gonna lie there. 🤣 I added shine to the metal part of the clothing and skin.

More shine to the hair, gloves, clothing, and boots. I chose a dark shade of blue for the background. I added another layer for the shadow and set the opacity to 15 percent. I used a special brush for the water swirls. I blur out those at the back.

Final Art

Added more water splashed in front and blur them. Added some small circles all around. I adjusted some parts of the body, especially the eye using liquify. Add noise monochrome and set it to 10 percent opacity.

Finished art!! 🥰 I enjoyed doing this art.

Thanks for reading~ 💖
