I am very fortunate to have a similar taste in music as my husband. But he leans more toward the 70’s and I’m an 80s and 90’s gal when it comes to go-to rock play lists like for, say, background party music. If I drive his car, and he’s got the radio on one of those 70’s stations, I’ll change the channel. But we have friction around it.

One of my best friends plays only Motown at her house. I have realized that I could not live with her. It’s a fine genre, mind you. But it’s not my sound. I’m done after a few songs.

That’s just to illustrate that there are definite levels of tolerance one needs around the music taste of others! I think some music disagreements are just part of life, and others could cause a deep rift! I hope you two have the former situation, not the latter.
