Non Verbal Drawing #7

Non Verbal Drawing also works pretty well in open spaces. Last summer, I returned to Greece, to my favorite island, Nysiros, in the Aegean Sea. The light of Nysiros attracts many painters and the atmosphere of the island has a special charm. Nature is arid and wild, governed by the imposing volcano in continuous eruption in the center of the island.

The rocks have always attracted me, synthesizing the different volumes, with their lights and shadows when the sun approaches twilight was tempting for my drawing experiments.

In this type of drawing I always try to start where the highest contrast is, where the highest gradient between light and shadow.
Around that point I then continue drawing in a kind of spiral, marking non-invasives hatching and in a way that they all melt until I find in the drawing what my eyes see.

Sometimes I get a good result, sometimes not, but I am devote of this method.
