Happy Sunday, dear hivers! As mentioned in my previous blog (see: preparing for my next hiking adventure), I've been into hiking for quite some time now. Today, i want to share my second hiking experience at Mt. Kang Irag Campsite, Sirao.
We arrived at the location at around 5:30 AM. The sky was still dark and a little cloudy due to the heavy rain the night before. Despite the bad weather, everyone was so excited for this hike and decided to push through, rain or shine.
Compared to my first hike (see: Hiking adventure to see the sunrise), this trek is longer, about 8km, and more challenging as the trail is muddy due to the rainy weather.
Half the hike in, I can feel the difficulty level progressing. We passed by different trails, some were too steep while others were too narrow that you have to hold the nearby branches for support. We took a break in between the routes to appreciate the beautiful scenery and catch our breathes before proceeding to hike.
We arrived at one of the most attractive spots in Mt Kang Irag- the water falls. But unfortunately, its drought season so we weren't able to enjoy the water as much. Some climb all the way down to take photos while others opted to enjoy the view at the highland.
I took a few deep breaths, trying to absorb all the nature's beauty in every breath, then continued the trail. We took a short break and drank coconut juice for refreshment.
Above all else, what I worried the most are my newly bought shoes. Haha. It's all so dirty now.
Finally, we reached the peak where the "Mt Kang Irag" sign was planted and took some photos. I was surprised to see tents up there as I didn't know some people stayed overnight there too. It surely must've been a fun adventure.
Just when I thought that the journey is now about to end, reaching towards the end of the trail is another kind of challenge. To be fair, the roads are now safer but our endurance will be tested as we have to walk a greater kilometer to reach the van.
And when we reached the van, the organizers prepared bottles of Pocari Sweat drink for refreshment. We can finally relax our feet. The journey wasn't easy and somewhere in between the trails, I was so ready to give up. But I'm thankful for the group for cheering on me and lending me a helping hand whenever I needed it. For my next hike, I will make sure to exercise my lower body a few days prior as i've notice that my legs and feet were shaking due to pressure. I hope to be stronger and more prepared for the challenge. Can't wait for my next hiking adventure!
That's it for today's blog. See you in my next one!
Sending some love and light
Love, Jane
