I've been prescribed tramadol as a pain reliever following an injury. I didn't care for it. The pain relief was mid at best, and the side effects, while mild, were not fun. I've had to give up dairy due to a food allergy, and I honestly don't know how it compares to giving up drugs or booze after an addiction, but the cravings for foods I cannot enjoy anymore are their own kind of hell.

BTW, I found your post because I was on a downvoting trail of a certain spammer. Their behavior seems addiction-adjacent. Or maybe just on the mental illness level.
