Spot on. I was floored when they said they spent months thinking and discussing this and the main problem they see with the entire economy is starter cards. While most bots are currently in lower leagues that do use starter cards, the real versions of the starter cards are so abundant that you can rent most of them for .1 dec per day. How many do they need to rent each day when the whole day has a focus of one splinter? Maybe 15 cards so they aren't running the exact same team every time?
So now that bots are going to spend a tenth of a cent per day to get paid out 100's of times more more units of currency per season (can't even say value because its going to collapse), the economy is mostly fixed. That's what the devs believe.
Let's say this really pushes rental prices up on those cards though to 1 dec each. A full 10x. It's now $0.015 cents per day they have to spend in order to farm 150 chests plus the dec rewards for playing and the 30 chests for daily rewards.
And as you pointed out, it doesn't do anything to the bots running in higher leagues.
This game is doomed at this rate. I just can't for the life of me figure out what is wrong with the devs. This isn't that hard to figure out. Why do so many smart people running crypto projects believe in magic math and wishful thinking? Why do so many people think because they left ECR alone, the bots are now extra thwarted by ECR when they weren't before? Nothing changed except better rewards for those who can optimize their ECR and spend more time playing. That's bots.
I just can't
