Since February, I’ve had to put something I truly enjoyed on hold: going to the gym. It all started with knee pain that, instead of going away, became a constant part of my daily life.
Over the past few months, I’ve tried a little bit of everything. Anti-inflammatory medication, a knee brace, glucosamine with chondroitin... Always hoping that the day would finally come when I could work out again without pain. Unfortunately, the improvement never came, and to be honest, there were times when I felt frustrated. I missed being active, moving my body, and exercising without constantly thinking about my knee.
So, I decided to see my orthopedic doctor again. After examining me, he recommended that I start rehabilitation with laser and ultrasound therapy.
With the power outages affecting almost the entire province, I thought I would have to wait even longer. Thankfully, I was lucky. Even though I work at a children's hospital, employees are also allowed to receive medical care in some departments. It felt like one of those small blessings that come just when you need them most.
Today was my first therapy session.
I won't lie. I was nervous. I was afraid it would hurt or be uncomfortable. Instead, the experience was much better than I expected. The treatment was gentle, the staff made me feel at ease, and I left feeling much more relaxed than when I arrived.
Now, a new chapter begins. I know recovery takes time, and I need to be patient, even though patience isn't always my strongest quality. Still, I left today feeling hopeful and excited, believing that this is the beginning of the journey back to doing what I’ve missed so much.
I'm not expecting miracles overnight. My goal is simply to heal my knee, regain my confidence, and slowly return to exercising while listening to my body every step of the way.
Today wasn't just my first rehabilitation session. It was the first step toward getting a part of myself back.
Wish me luck! I'm confident that with patience, consistency, and faith, I'll be back doing what I love before long.
