My illustration of a family of hoopoes in our garden with paddy-fields and sugar-palm trees beyond

My illustration of a tiny wren trying to feed an enormous cuckoo chick

The only time I have seen spotted owlets in our garden was during an eruption of flying termites. This usually happens just after the first rain of the rainy season. It is spectacular with thousands of

My illustration of a magpie robin with the discarded tail of a gecko

An illustration of the large-tailed nightjar which I am delighted to have sharing my garden.

I am not sure why I thought it would be fun to illustrate a bait ball. Putting together all those fish made my head hurt! Apart from that I did enjoy putting all the separate bits and animals into a

My illustration of a puffin with its surprising catch!

Autumn and robins are two of the things I miss from my native England. I haven't lived there for over twenty-five years. We have our own very different seasons here in Thailand to both test and treat us

Wondering what comments to add to this illustration I started questioning whether my assumption that everybody knows the tortoise and hare fable is actually true. Maybe everybody does but with people from

Whenever I see pictures of the bull running festival in Pamplona in Spain it always strikes me how terrifying it must be for the animals surrounded by a crowd of noisy, excited people deliberately provoking

This is probably the moment that nature lost a fan. And I suspect the boy might grow up to become a pest controller. I was fortunate enough to never experience such trauma at the

Artwork of thermalling storks using a photograph of a weathered old metal fence

Shags and their brother cormorants are great subjects for my kind of artwork with their upright stance and long necks. Their silhouettes are distinctive and blend into the background easily when sitting

A lone sealion, watchful as it emerges onto a beach, pausing to check for danger before entering a world where it lumbers rather than glides. To me, it looks like a clean place to live, with bright

Wading birds are not always easy to spot in the cluttered background of a rocky shoreline, especially those smaller ones working the tideline like clockwork toys. Too often I have been caught out...

A nice simple one today which I like because this singing robin is sitting on a fence and the whole image is a macro detail of weathering on a fence. So it is a robin on a fence on a fence!

I have never experienced the real tundra landscape so I am making do with this photograph of an old corrugated metal fence that has weathered into something that sparks my imagination into seeing as tundra.

I grew up in northern Europe so to me this is a red deer stag roaring but on the other side of the Atlantic ocean you might see it as an elk bull bugling. Very similar species, the most striking difference

Polar bears in an abstract almost-polar landscape but with an unclean look that to my mind suggested our influence. It is not the smooth white world you would expect of the arctic, instead there's a grubbiness

This otter, poking around on some abstract beach somewhere, is one of my favourites of my most recent stuff. The pastel colours are lovely and the whole splashy-crashy, washed-around scene works so nicely
