Para hacer la esfera tomé una imagen de referencia y calque la base que si o si se necesita para hacer la esfera. Aquí puedes ver las capas de los colores plasta, difuminados, brillos, etc.
Estuve pensando un tiempo y planeando en mi mente, como le podía hacer para poder crear el efecto del logo de Hive dentro de la esfera, y lo más fácil que se me ocurrió fue hacer que el logo pasará de un lado a otro. Para esto, solo fui copiando y pegando el logo en las posiciones que lo quería y me ayude de un modo de capa que se llama "máscara de recorte" que sirve para que puedas meter un objeto o capa en otra (en la aplicación Procreate en el iPad). El resultado no me encantó porque se veía plano, sin vida y sin chiste, pero me ayudó a dar ese primer paso para llegar a mi meta. Así que nuevamente lo pospuse y me puse a pensar como hacerle para que se viera mejor, ya que no quería compartir esta primera versión con la que no me sentía cómoda, ni satisfecha.
To make the sphere, I took a reference image and traced the base that is needed to make the sphere. Here you can see the layers of the plasta colors, fades, glows, etc.
I was thinking for a while and planning what I could do to create the effect of the Hive logo inside the sphere, and the easiest thing I could think of was to make the logo go from one side to the other. For this, I just copied and pasted the logo in the positions I wanted it, and I used a layer mode called " clipping mask " that allows you to put an object or layer in another one (in the Procreate on iPad app). I wasn't thrilled with the result because it looked flat, lifeless, and unjokey, but it helped me take that first step toward achieving my goal. So I postponed it again, and I started to think about how to make it look better since I didn't want to share this first version with which I didn't feel comfortable or satisfied.
El tiempo pasaba e iba dejando la idea en el olvido. Pasó el Inkgris, gracias al apoyo de Hive tuve mucho trabaja y con más razón lo seguí posponiendo por no decir procrastinando, hasta que un día me llegó la iluminación.
Cómo ya saben y si no lo saben aquí les cuento, yo hago mis portadas (thumbnails/miniaturas) para mis videos en IbisPain X así como también otros proyectos. Es una app que amo con el corazón y de la que siempre hablo maravillas porque en verdad es una joya, así que recordé que esta app tiene un montón de efectos para aplicar a las imágenes y uno de ellos me podría ayudar enormidad con el efecto que quería conseguir.
Para esto, ibis tiene varias categorías en los efectos y en el apartado de transformar hay justo lo que yo necesitaba y andaba buscado. Un efecto llamado "lente esférica" que lo que hace es justo eso, pasar sobre la imagen y dar el efecto de que está dentro de una esfera. Así que metí el logo de Hive, le aplique este efecto y fui moviendo el cursor y tomando capturas de pantalla para captar ese efecto esférico y poder llevarlo a Procreate dónde iba a trabajar la animación.
Esto me emocionó demasiado porque literalmente era lo que quería y necesitaba. Aunque el efecto ya estaba hecho, lo siguiente fue muy laborioso y hasta un poco tedioso. Captura por captura la fui acomodando en cada esfera duplicada y borrando el fondo una por una para dejar solo el logo y que el efecto quedará limpio. Mientras lo hacía, estuve escuchando música, reacciones de Vocal Coach y videos de chismes para amenizar, esta ardua tarea, ya que al ser un trabajo repetitivo tiende a hartar. A veces me paraba para despejarme y jugaba con Pumi (nuestro Chihuahua y nuevo integrante de la familia) y regresaba recargada a seguir borrando fondos.
Time went by, and I was leaving the idea in oblivion. The Inkgris passed. Thanks to Hive's support, I had a lot of work to do, and I kept postponing it until one day, the illumination came to me.
As you already know, and if you don't know where I tell you, I make my covers (thumbnails/miniatures) for my videos in IbisPain X as well as other projects. It is an app that I love with all my heart, and I always speak wonders about it because it is a jewel, so I remembered that this app has a lot of effects to apply to the images, and one of them could help me a lot with the effect I wanted to achieve.
For this, ibis has several categories in the effects, and in the transform section, there is just what I needed and was looking for. An effect called "spherical lens" does just that. It goes over the image and gives the effect that it is inside a sphere. So I put the Hive logo, applied this effect, moved the cursor, took screenshots to capture the spherical effect, and took it to Procreate, where I was going to work on the animation.
This excited me because it was literally what I wanted and needed. Although the effect was already done, the following was very laborious and even a little tedious. Capture by capture, I arranged it in each duplicated sphere and erased the background one by one to leave only the logo, and the effect would be clean. While doing it, I listened to music, Vocal Coach reactions, and gossip videos to liven up this arduous task since a repetitive job tends to be tiring. Sometimes I stopped to clear my head and played with Pumi (our Chihuahua and new family member) and returned recharged to continue erasing the backgrounds.
Qué genial es poder ver todas estas horas de trabajo en segundos, la verdad es muy satisfactorio.
Al final el esfuerzo rindió sus frutos y la esfera estaba terminada, lista para ser compartida dignamente. Me preguntó que habría pasado si no conociera la aplicación ibisPaint X ¿cómo habría logrado el efecto? ¿A ustedes se les ocurre algo? Yo no tengo idea, pero conociéndome sé que me las habría ingeniado para lograrlo.
Les recomiendo ampliamente la aplicación IbisPaint X para hacer sus portadas, ya que como mencioné antes está llena de recursos y herramientas geniales que cada vez me salvan mis proyectos, además de todo se puede usar gratis en el teléfono, tablet, Mac o PC.

In the end, the effort paid off, and the sphere was finished, ready to be shared with dignity. I wondered what would have happened if I didn't know the ibisPaint X application. How would I have achieved the effect? Can you think of anything? I have no idea, but knowing me, I know I would have managed to do it.
I highly recommend the IbisPaint X application to make your covers because, as I mentioned before is full of resources and great tools that every time I save my projects, plus everything can be used for free on your phone, tablet, Mac, or PC.
