A few days ago, my husband and I received an invitation to attend a baby shower for a girl who goes to our church. I was thrilled to be invited because I’ve only been to one party like this in my entire life. Now all I need is an invitation to a wedding, because I’ve only been to one: ours 😂.
Si les soy sincera, fue la primera vez que compartí con ellos de una forma cercana, ya que no llevo mucho tiempo yendo a la iglesia, además de que no soy muy sociable, así que estaba algo nerviosa. Pero bueno, ya me había comprometido y no había vuelta atrás. Después de perder 40 minutos tratando de encontrar la dirección, logramos llegar al sitio.
To be honest, it was the first time I’d spent time with them in such an intimate way, since I haven’t been going to church for very long, and I’m not very outgoing, so I was a little nervous. But well, I’d already committed, and there was no turning back. After wasting 40 minutes trying to find the address, we finally made it to the venue.
Lo primero que hicimos fue organizar todo y ayudar a terminar la decoración, que fue bastante sencillo porque una de las chicas es experta en decoraciones y en menos de 30 minutos lo tuvimos todo listo. También había una persona encargada de toda la organización, así que cada uno tenía algo asignado para llevar y hacer, porque Dios es un Dios de orden y eso se aplica a todos los aspectos de nuestra vida.
The first thing we did was get everything organized and help finish the decorations, which was pretty easy because one of the girls is an expert at decorating, and in less than 30 minutes we had everything ready. There was also someone in charge of the whole organization, so everyone had a specific task to carry out, because God is a God of order, and that applies to every aspect of our lives.
Otra chica y yo nos encargamos de los juegos, porque, claro, no es baby shower si no hay dinámicas, aunque debo reconocer que ella participó más que yo, yo más bien la apoyé. Lo único diferente fue que la mayoría de las dinámicas fueron para los hombres, porque esta vez queríamos que participaran más y creo que salió todo genial.
Another girl and I took charge of the games, because, of course, it’s not a baby shower without activities, though I have to admit she participated more than I did—I mostly just supported her. The only difference was that most of the activities were for the men, because this time we wanted them to participate more, and I think everything turned out great.
Solo participé en el juego de charadas, que consiste en acertar palabras o frases secretas. Nos divertimos un montón, a pesar de que no ganamos, pero lo dimos todo. I only participated in the charades game, which involves guessing secret words or phrases. We had a blast, even though we didn’t win, but we gave it our all. Another activity I liked was the one where the men had to make a baby out of Play-Doh, and my husband got to show off his artistic skills because he even made it a toy and a French-style beret. En resumen, fue una tarde divertida en la que pudimos conocernos un poco más, compartir, comer una torta deliciosa y celebrar a los futuros padres para que tengan un bonito recuerdo de este proceso tan hermoso. All in all, it was a fun afternoon where we got to know each other a little better, spent time together, enjoyed a delicious cake, and celebrated the soon-to-be parents so they’d have a lovely memory of this wonderful journey.
