I think monogamy could work...but not with our current society, at least with the majority of people. I think the main problem is the idea of single family houses and the nuclear family. We turn to our spouse for everything. It's just too much stress in this modern society. Maybe if we had a psychologist and a few friends, and many close family.
Our current social structure just won't work unless you got plenty of money.
And even those people, often it doesn't work out, because they don't have enough real friends, and the hazards of wealth end up getting them.
