Exactly! The DA universe was one of the universes I am heavily invested in from the games to the books and comics so story wise I was more pissed off that they retconned everything we knew about the blight because they tried to be smart. The only thing with that those retcons make no sense.

Okay so the old elven gods really used the blight... Okay cool. They also control the arch demons... Well that makes no sense because the archdemons were always old gods that the darkspawn found and corrupted. When a blight happens the darkspawn led by the archdemon try to spread the blight everywhere so what purpose would the old elven gods have for this? Wouldn't they be IDK trying to use the archdemon and the darkspawn to break out of prison?

The whole prison bit with Silas too they stole straight from Star Wars the Old republic. In the expansion Knights of the Fallen Empire the emperor is trapped in your mind and when you have conversations with him you need to mediate and it even uses the same black and white filter.

It was just a very lazy game all around
