You are right. “Good-byes” are common here especially with foreigners. Great that you had such a lovely neighbor. It reminds me of two lovely Australian neighbors I said bye to a few years ago. They were always there for my family and never missed our birthdays. We tried hard to keep up with theirs. Luckily they were able to visit just before CO-VID. We miss them.
Just last Friday too, our neighbors moved to America. They had two children who were like my kids’ siblings. They went to school together and came home together. We get used to saying bye but this one was really sad. One of the kids was my younger son’s classmate. They had their little fights but got along well. He really misses her. Hoping this week will go well for them at school. We’ll do our best to keep in touch. Childhood friendships are special.
Now I need a good friend whose into fitness to get me up and running. 😂😂
